The eye is the only place where a doctor can actually see the blood vessels up close and personal. Dr. Paradine performs a thorough dilated eye examination and does in depth retinal scans to inspect these blood vessels that can cause damage to the back of the eye and lead to vision changes or even blindness. You do not have to have any visual symptoms to have retinal damage from diabetes, so it is recommended to be seen by your optometrist once per year.
